Flowers are in demand with Valentine’s Day around the corner.

Former HGTV star Paul James, also known as "The Gardener Guy,” said when it comes to flowers, there are options beyond the traditional route of roses.

Roses are red, violets are blue, but there are several other flowers to choose from too!

Roses are a classic this time of year and a popular gift for the holiday of love.

If you want to branch out from the norm, James says living plants are a good alternative.

If your special someone is a sucker for succulents, the Kalanchoe may be the perfect option.

With shiny leaves and clusters of flowers, James says they don't need too much water.

Other ideas are primroses or Cyclamen. Both need moist soil and a fair amount of sunlight.

Campanulas, or Bell Flowers, are known for their unique shape.

James says Bromeliads are tropical in origin and the red parts are modified leaves.

Another beautiful plant to show your love is orchids. They come in lots of different colors and can last for weeks in your home.

"What I like about breaking from tradition, and I'm known to break traditions all the time, is these are live plants. So, they have a life beyond Valentine’s Day or a few weeks after that, so you can enjoy them for an extended period. And hopefully, your relationship lasts that long as well,” James said.

Of course, your love can bloom regardless of the floral display of affection you choose this Valentine’s Day.
