Osage SkyNews 6 Photographer Matt Rahn paid a visit to his mom's classroom in Claremore. He brought along Pilot Dustin Stone, so they could talk to students about the science of flight.
Michelle Rahn's STEM class is learning about the forces of flight this week.
"So I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have News On 6 helicopter crew come and talk to our kids about how those forces of flight are demonstrated in a helicopter," Rahn said.
Pilot Dustin Stone and Matt Rahn talked to her students about how a news helicopter operates and even brought Drone 6 for a quick flight demonstration.
The students asked great questions that kept Dustin and Matt on their toes. Sixth Grader Jaylie Shilling said she learned something new.
"I did not know that the blades could flop," she said.
Mrs. Rahn likes bringing guest speakers to her class to share real-life lessons, saying it's critical for her students to see future career opportunities.
"Just those real-life connections that they can see you guys and go, 'hey I can do that, that's Mrs. Rahn's kid. I can do that to,'" she said.
Matt Rahn may be biased but said by spending just a few hours in her classroom Friday, it's easy to see the impact a great teacher can have on her students.
