Jenks Fire Department, SAFE Kids Host Car Seat Safety Event

The Jenks Fire Department and SAFE Kids hosted a car seat installation and safety event Saturday afternoon.

Anyone could drive through the station near West 121st and Elwood to have their car seats checked or installed.

Austin Raska with SAFE Kids said teaching parents about proper seating and installation prevents injuries.

"It keeps them safe in the event of a crash. If they're not in the correct seat or facing the correct direction, it puts them at an increased risk for very significant injuries such as spine and neck injuries," Austin Raska with Rural Child Passenger Safety said.

Firefighters also trained several OHP troopers on proper car seat installation on Friday.
