Wyvette Mayberry led the Golden Hurricane in scoring on Saturday with 21 points on 6-11 shooting, including 3-5 from behind the arc, but a slow-start dug Tulsa a pit that they could not climb out of, resulting in a 73-58 loss to the Temple Owls.
Tulsa struggled to get points on the board early, falling behind 15-9 after the first quarter. Other than Mayberry, shooting woes plagued the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa went 21-63 from the field, only 33.3 percent.
TU managed to win the turnover battle 23-13, but Temple was still able to make 26-50 shots thanks to Mia Davis (21 points, 8-9 FGs) and Alexa Williamson (14, 5-7).
Tulsa falls to 14-6, (4-5 in American Athletic Conference) while Temple improved to 12-10 (7-4 AAC).
The Golden Hurricane stay in Tulsa for their next game against Tulane on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
