Tulsa county deputies and Tulsa police are offering women and girls free self-defense training classes.
The "Empower self-defense" classes focus on training women on how to practice good situational awareness to avoid dangerous situations.
The classes also teach women how to defend themselves and how to escape an attacker.
"We want them to come out of this class with a mindset that if the worst-case scenario happens and they are targeted, that they have the mindset that they can defend themselves, they have the skills they need to fight off a potential attacker, and at the end of the day, we want everybody to be safe," said Casey Roebuck from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.
The classes are held at Centennial Center in Veterans Park on 6th street.
The next class is set to take place on March 16th.
