It's Memorial Day weekend and many Oklahomans will be hitting the roads over the weekend to travel.

Experts say record-high gas prices aren't slowing down Oklahomans.

AAA is expecting a high number of travelers on the road this weekend and more than we have seen in the last few years.

"Oklahoma is still a very inexpensive state to purchase gas and we are the number one least expensive state, typically, in these days when we are seeing escalating gas prices,” said Leslie Gamble with Public Affairs at AAA.

Advice from the experts is to be prepared.

Check your car out before you hit the road, check your tires, your car battery and charge your cell phones.

AAA says it normally gets around 1,000 calls every weekend, but because of Memorial Day that number could double.

"I’ve got a 32-man team, everybody is going to be here, besides I’ve got a few that are on vacation, but everybody is going to be here rolling on,” said Gregory Godbout, AAA Emergency Roadside Supervisor.

As you are traveling this weekend, AAA also wants to remind you to be aware of people parked on the side of the roadways.
