People living in the path of Hurricane Ian are dealing with strong winds and the possibility of devastating flooding. Residents with Oklahoma ties are in the storm and taking precautions.
Convenience stores and gas stations along the path of the storm have been packed for days as people made last minute preparations.
Chad Day lived in Oklahoma for years until moving to the Tampa area last summer.
“It seems like a lot of people around here are not underestimating anything and they’re taking it extremely seriously,” said Day.
Day is riding out the storm a couple of hours away in Orlando.
Jason Odom called central Oklahoma home for 20 years before moving to the Fort Myers area.
“It is practically paradise except for days like today,” said Odom.
Crews with PSO have also made it to Florida to help with the aftermath of the storm.
They will stage in Orlando until Friday, when they will relocate to Tampa for assignments.
