Bills Targeting Underage Tobacco Use Move Through State Senate

A bill that would add to punishments for underage tobacco and vaping purchases is moving to the state Senate.

If it passes, it would require anyone under 21 convicted of buying or attempting to buy tobacco to go through a tobacco education program. Courts could also require community service.

Another bill in the Senate would require judges to complete a certification program to help them deal with underage tobacco and vaping use.
