ORU Coach Paul Mills Hired As New Wichita State Head Coach

Wichita State is hiring Oral Roberts Head Basketball Coach Paul Mills for the same position, according to News On 6 Sports Reporter Dan Hawk.

Mills became a hot commodity in the coaching carousel following NCAA tournament appearances in two of the last three seasons with ORU, including a Sweet 16 run in 2021.

During his six years as coach of the Golden Eagles, Mills led ORU to a 106-84 overall record, a regular season Summit League Championship and two Summit League Conference Tournament Championships.

Mills was named the Summit League coach of the year for the 2022-23 season, where ORU finished conference play undefeated en route to an NCAA Tournament matchup with Duke.

ORU hired Mills from Baylor before the 2017-18 season, making him the program's 11th head coach, according to ORU Athletics.

Mills joins the Shockers in the American Athletic Conference and replaces Isaac Brown, who was fired in March after a 48-34 record.
