TULSA, Okla. - Cool weather hangs around on Wednesday after a round of early-morning showers and storms.

The cold front is exiting the area early this morning and has taken the threat for strong and severe storms out of the state. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued overnight, but so far, we’ve received no reports of major damage.

Gusty northwest winds will continue for the next few hours from 15 to 25 mph with morning lows in the 30s and 40s. Afternoon highs should reach the upper 50s and lower 60s with abundant sunshine. The fire danger is not as high on Wednesday as it was on Tuesday but still may be problematic along and northwest of I-44 as the dry air and gusty winds invade the region.

Cooler air arrives with morning lows in the 30s Thursday morning with afternoon highs in the lower to mid-60s. South winds return Thursday and Friday but will remain in the 10 to 15 mph range giving us a break in the fire spread rates across the region. Friday morning starts in the 30s and 40s with afternoon highs in the upper 60s. The weekend looks good. Highs Saturday will remain in the 70s, with Easter Sunday afternoon reaching the mid to upper 70s. A weak system nearing by late Sunday evening could bring a few scattered showers or storms, but the probability remains low.
