Hundreds of people are working to get Cedar Ridge Country Club ready to host some of professional golf’s biggest names next month.
The course superintendent said there is a lot of excitement, from the staff to all of the members.
The transformation from country club to center stage for those taking part in the tournament is in full swing. Crews have been on site since the start of April building hospitality suites, broadcast towers, and concession stands.
Nearly 10,000 people are expected to pack the course each day of the tournament when it stops through Broken Arrow in May.
“Cedar Ridge has kind of looked like a beehive for the last two or three weeks,” said Eddie Roach, the course superintendent.
It will be a shotgun start for the players next month. They will place 54 holes over the three day stretch.
Roach and his staff know the course better than anyone, but admit it will be a little strange during the tournament since some of the holes will be renumbered.
“We think that the way that they’re doing that is going to fit the golfers and fit the crowds a lot better,” said Roach.
Plenty more buildings will be going up in the coming days and there is still plenty of work left to do to get everything ready to go for next month.
“This is a big opportunity for this club, myself and my staff,” said Roach.
