Collinsville Teaches Residents Rainwater Collection In Free Workshop

Some Green Country residents now know how to safely collect and re-use their rainwater.

The City of Collinsville teamed up with the Grand River Dam Authority for the free workshop on Sunday.

People learned how to make their own water collection system.

Ash Winfield and his wife are co-founders of Farm Hippie Community Inc., and say they put on free educational events like this every month.

"We talk about issues like, today is rainwater collection and landscaping and the importance of water runoff and how to best manage it," Winfield said.

About 25 Collinsville residents also got to go home with a free rain barrel.
