Hundreds of athletes crossed the finish line for Tulsa’s last Ironman triathlon. The winner of the women's race is from Tulsa.
Jessica Jones Lasley is recovering after her big win. She said she's proud and still taking it all in.
"I think in some ways, it still really hasn't hit because it's something you want to do for so long and when you finally do it, you're like, 'oh wow did that really just happen,'" Jessica said.
Tulsa's last Ironman was a special one for Jessica. "I've always wanted to win here in Tulsa," Jessica said.
After coming up just short of winning last year, she was proud of her accomplishments this year.
"I had won 70.3 the half hour man distance, but never the full distance, so it was pretty special to do it here," Jessica said.
She won this year's women's race in 9:43:49. It was her 11th time competing in Ironman.
She used to be a professional runner and now she coaches others. She believes anyone can complete a triathlon if they put their mind to it.
"I think so much of Ironman is mental," Jessica said.
For Jessica, seeing people she knew cheering her on made the race go by a little quicker.
"I knew I had family and friends waiting for me, so that definitely kept me focused," Jessica said.
Jessica trained for 18 hours a week for the triathlon. She said being able to take a route that she runs frequently also boosted her confidence.
"I feel like I definitely had home field advantage, just knowing the course and having so much support out there," Jessica said.
