November 28 is Giving Tuesday. People from across the globe will be giving to nonprofit organizations in need.
It’s a day that encourages the public to donate money or time to help out community-based organizations.
The Tulsa Area United Way participates each year and is working to reach its 2023 fundraising goal.
This year that number is set at $25.8 million. The organization is $280,000 away from reaching it.
Money donated through Giving Tuesday will help benefit 160 partner programs across six counties in Eastern Oklahoma.
Leaders with the United Way plan to bring awareness to the big impact these groups are making in the community.
"Those include health and safety, expanding education, and strengthening financial stability. So you might have an organization that offers meals to kids who don’t have meals during the summer time. Or you might have a food pantry or a clothing drive," said Lauren Collins with the Tulsa Area United Way.
