A man was injured after Tulsa Police said a road rage incident led to a shooting on Wednesday night.
This started after Darron Payne picked up his mother from church and claimed another driver tried to run them off the road, police said. Payne and his mother were in an orange car when he said a driver in a PT Cruiser driving aggressively behind them.
Police said Payne told them he feared for his mother's safety, so he pulled out a gun and shot at the other driver, hitting them in the shoulder.
Both drivers pulled into a QuikTrip near 51st and Mingo where the two men continued to argue before someone broke it up, police said. The man who was shot is in his 50s and is expected to be okay, according to police.
Police arrested Payne for Shooting With Intent to Kill.
AAA said the number of road rage incidents is up this year and typically becomes more common around the holidays. Experts said the best thing you can do if someone antagonizes you on the road is to try to remove yourself from the situation and call 911 if things get dangerous.
