Suspect In Custody After Man Found Dead In Muskogee Home

Officers say one man is dead, a woman is in critical condition, and they have a suspect in custody.

News On 6 received surveillance video from a viewer from when Muskogee Police responded to a homicide.

Neighbors are shocked after the homicide happened nearby. Some say they plan to increase security measures around their homes.

Surveillance video from a neighbor across the street shows activity on the porch of the Muskogee home where police say Andrew Davenport killed the man. Though, it’s not clear who is in the video or what they’re doing.

Police say Andrew Davenport killed the man and seriously injured the woman before going on the run. Officers called in help to find him.

The female victim is in fair condition as of Wednesday morning, police confirm.

“We called in our other shifts. Had extra shifts come in. Lots of people that weren't working today that came in, and the sole purpose of them coming to work today was to find this person,” Lynn Hamlin with the Muskogee Police Department said. 

Officers arrested Davenport hours later, a few blocks away from the home.

Across the street, Nikkoda Lavie woke up in surprise to sirens and police cars along the street.

“We had cops come to the door, and they had asked, did I see anything? Did I hear anything? Did I do anything, and I said, ‘No, not anything worse than usual’,” Lavie said. 

After reviewing her security cameras, she found something that did stand out.

“Last night, about 12, there was three guys or three people with flashlights, just running around on the front porch,” Lavie said.

But she says that wasn’t unusual for her neighbors.

“They have high-traffic people on bicycles go there all the time. They get screaming matches; like I said, I get woken up all the time because they’re just over there acting crazy,” Lavie said. 

Davenport is being held for first-degree murder and aggravated assault and battery.
