For those looking for something different to do this Valentine's Day, a local dance instructor is hosting a Latin/R&B Dance Social.
Joshua Forbes teaches a variety of classes at the Temple of Dance in Tulsa.
On Wednesday, February 14th from 9 p.m. to midnight couples and singles are invited to Scissortail Ballroom and Event Center.
"We will have some salsa, some bachata, but also I threw some R&B in there just in case people do not know any Latin, but they know a lot of the old school love hits, they can still slow dance to that," said Forbes.
Partner dancing is said to help a couple's communication and connection.
"You are leaning into that person; you are trusting that person. It is almost a deeper connection mentally and emotionally when you are partner dancing," said Forbes.
These two dance styles, salsa and bachata, are all about love and passion which is why he picked them for Valentine's Day.
"Bachata can be more of a sensual dance because you are dancing really close with one another, and salsa you can dance close, but it is more of a faster pace," Forbes added.
For those newer to dance, he teaches a $15 beginner's Latin class every Friday night from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Temple of Dance. For more information about classes or to get tickets to the Valentine's Day event visit CLICK HERE for more information. Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door.
Childcare will also be provided by Serenity Center For The Arts at 8207 S Harvard Ave., but parents must RSVP by Tuesday, February 13th by calling 918-280-9779.
