A bridge rehabilitation project is scheduled to start Monday morning, March 4, on the Eastbound I-244 ramp to Highway 11.
ODOT said both bridges that the ramp runs over will be reconstructed during this project, which could impact drivers heading to Tulsa International Airport.
State Highway 11 is the main route toward the airport.
Drivers coming from the east can get off on Mingo to get back onto westbound I-244 and then on to Highway 11.
The northbound I-244 ramp to hop onto Highway 11 will remain open.
ODOT said the project is part of an eight-year construction work plan. Spokesperson TJ Gerlach said it's time for these bridges to be reconstructed, which will take time.
"With any project, we do ask for patience as we work through it. We are obviously going to be shutting down that ramp for approximately nine months to a year. So we do ask for the public’s patience as we work through this. But the end result is always going to be a better product for them," Gerlach said.
Gerlach is urging drivers to slow down, pay attention, and put away any distractions as with any work zone in the state.
