Labor Day Great Raft Race Registration Deadline Approaches

The deadline to register for the Labor Day Great Raft Race is approaching. After a four-year hiatus, the race coincides with the Big Dam Party celebrating the opening of Zink Lake.

Friday is the deadline to register to participate in the Great Raft Race.

The race will take place on Labor Day after a four-year hiatus. It will coincide with the Big Dam Party celebrating the opening of Zink Lake starting Aug. 30 and end with the race on Monday, Sept. 2.

The Great Raft Race was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic and again in recent years due to the Gilcrease Expressway construction.

The race will start with the historic eight-mile event from Sand Springs to the West Festival Park in Tulsa.

Organizers say that with the opening of Zink Lake, there will be a homemade raft exhibition on the white water flume from two to three o'clock.

The rafts will launch from Sand Springs at 8 a.m.
