Jenks High School Athlete Now Eligible For Football & Track

A Jenks High School student is eligible to play football and run track this year.

A lawsuit was filed earlier in early September on behalf of Kayleb Barnett, who alleged that the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) was barring him from competing under the suspicion that he had been recruited to play for Jenks.

A source close to News On 6, said that Barnett is now eligible and will be able to play in the second game of the season for the Trojans.

OSSAA said that they would not comment on student-athlete eligibility issues,

The “issues" started when Barnett moved from his mother’s house in Broken Arrow to his father’s house in the Jenks school district earlier this year. Barnett subsequently applied for an OSSAA waiver in May to exempt him from the rule requiring student-athletes to sit out for a year after transferring.

The waiver request was denied because the OSSAA claimed Jenks had recruited Barnett to join the Trojans.
