If you have allergies you might want to consider a new form of treatment. Sublingual drops are now available that you put in your mouth three times a day. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports one doctor says that means saying goodbye to needles and allergy shots.

Green Country can be beautiful, but it can also make you sick. Depending on what time of the year it is, Tulsa frequently ranks as one of the top areas for allergies. For many allergy sufferers for years, shots were the only way to find lasting relief, but Dr. Michael Shaw, an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist says not anymore.

"You do one drop three times a day. Three to five years is how you get rid of it completely, but they will see results in two months," says Dr. Michael Shaw, who practices near 45th and Yale.

Dr. Shaw says sublingual drops have been around for years in Europe, but they're just now making their way to American clinics. Before you can get them, allergy sufferers have to go through a series of tests that take minutes to complete. Once that's done, doctors formulate which medicines you need. And then, you're ready to drop.

"It's so much easier especially with the price of gas. They can do it at home and they don't have to come in every week to get shots," said Dr. Michael Shaw.

Dr. Shaw says no one likes taking shots, especially kids so; he thinks the drops will help moms out a lot. He says the drops will cure your allergies after about three to five years of use, but you have to use them every day.
