OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar will serve six months probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

The 20-year-old was cited by Oklahoma City police in March for drinking beer at a New Orleans Hornets basketball game.

An undercover police officer says he saw Bomar taking beer from friends, pouring it into a white cup and then drinking it.

Municipal Judge Fred Austin sentenced Bomar to probation and ordered him to pay court costs and an administrative fee.

The sentence is based on the recommendation of prosecutors. Assistant Municipal Counselor Laura Yates says the probation recommendation is routine for 20-year-olds caught drinking beer.
