NORMAN, Oklahoma -- First round selection and Oklahoma Heisman winner Sam Bradford was honored at halftime of the Oklahoma Sooners’ matchup with rival Texas Wednesday in Norman.

Bradford was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year after leading the Rams to seven wins in 2010, more wins than they had in the previous three seasons.

“I think if you look at where we started the year as a team and where we finished the year it was night and day,” said Bradford. “We were so much better by the end of the year, and that’s something that I am proud of.”

Bradford met with the media before the game and talked about his rookie season, the topic of the NFL lockout as well as his time at OU.

“I think if we can use the steps we made this year and use this year as a stepping stone into next year, I think we’ve got a shot to be a really good football team next year,” said Bradford.

When asked what the biggest difference is between college football and NFL, with a smile Bradford quickly responded, ““the fact is, I don’t have to go to class now which is a bonus, I just get to play football all day.”

“The biggest difference is here you are so close to everyone on the team, especially the guys you come in with, said Bradford. “In the NFL people come and go weekly, so I just don’t think the bonds with the entire team are there the way they are in college.”

Fans were also given a free T-shirt as part of the “Cheer Like a Champion” night in conjunction with the game against the rivals Longhorns from south of the Red River.
