The annual Battle of Round Mountain is going on this weekend in Yale. The first Civil War battle fought in Green Country is reenacted starting at 9 a.m. and running through 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Throughout the day, volunteers representing soldiers and camp followers will be in character to talk to visitors about setting up a winter encampment during the Civil War.
The camps are located north of the Assembly of God Church in Yale, State Highway 51 about a half mile west of Main Street. Access is from the church entrance.

Organizers suggest arriving early at the church for the popular battle reenactment. You can have a cup of coffee in the Confederate camp, take photos as soldiers prepare for battle and have dinner at the church.
The actual battle begins at 2 p.m. both days. It takes a few minutes to walk from the church to the battle area.
