The Tulsa Drillers were six outs away from a win Saturday night, but those last six outs proved hard to come by.
Arkansas scored five runs in the last two innings to defeat the Drillers at ONEOK Field, 5-2.
The Travelers scored four runs on four hits in the top of the eighth inning after managing just two hits in the first seven innings against starting pitcher Tyler Anderson and reliever Nelson Gonzalez. Gonzalez allowed some cracks in the dam at the beginning of the eighth inning before it burst on Nate Striz, who took the loss.
Tulsa took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from Chris O’Dowd and extended the lead to 2-0 on an RBI single from Ryan Casteel.
The Drillers put two runners on with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Cam Bedrosian struck out the last three batters to pick up his 13th save of the season.
The two teams are back in action on Sunday at 7:05 p.m .at ONEOK Field.
