Number Of PSO Customers Still Without Power In Bartlesville Decreasing

Almost everyone's power is back on in Bartlesville, PSO said they're down to less than 200 customers without electricity – the day started with more than 700 customers in the dark.

A lot of people are spending their day cleaning up storm debris and other folks are sweating it out with no electricity and no air conditioning.

Jim Williams had to get outside to get a breeze and to get a look at progress being made by utility workers trying to restore electric service on a sweltering day.

"It's very hot. We've had to sleep with our doors and windows open. There's very little breeze at night. It's really uncomfortable,” Williams said.

He started the morning among the more than 700 customers without power. No power, means no air conditioning. PSO says at the peak of the storm, about 10,800 of their customers were without power.

Williams said while it was 69 degrees outside when he woke up, it was already 82 degrees inside and climbing.

"We're just hoping and praying to God it comes back on real soon, it's really hard to breathe in the humidity. As you can see, I need oxygen,” he said.

Most of the outages are on the north and west sides of Bartlesville. More than 30 utility poles snapped, downing a main transmission line, causing outages in the Oak Park neighborhood.

While utility crews worked, thing weren't slowing down at a dump site set up by the city on the west side of the city.

"Thank goodness, Bartlesville is letting us come out here and dump it,” said Bartlesville resident, Chris Nave.

One load after another people were bringing storm debris; it's not what most thought they'd be facing the first week of September.

"There was a tree upside down in our driveway, so luckily no one was parked in our driveway,” said resident, Niki Keck.

Nave said, "There's lots of trees down all around town, see storage sheds turned over, it was pretty wicked."

Bartlesville emergency management teams were out taking assessments to see exactly how much damage they have.

The emergency management director said they won't meet the threshold for FEMA help, but could qualify for other federal assistance.
