Most Christmas decorations are up by now, but some are disappearing overnight because of thieves.

News On 6 is getting reports from all over Green Country about people walking onto lawns and walking off with ornaments.

Whether it's a prank or not, the homeowners can't believe someone would sneak onto their property and steal Christmas decorations.

One Tulsa resident caught the whole thing on camera.

"I guess now the trend is grabbing ornaments out of people's yards,” Tulsan Bobby Woolslayer said. “That's the kind of person that might steal a nativity scene or something that valuable!"

Woolslayer peeked out of his window in the middle night to see a man run across his lawn and steal a Christmas reindeer ornament.

“But the way he went about it was almost like an episode of Beavis and Butthead," Woolslayer said.

The home surveillance system caught the whole thing on tape.

Woolslayer filed a police report with the Tulsa Police Department.

“I'd like to have them back,” Woolslayer said. “They're very replaceable, but it just bothers me that someone would steal a Christmas ornament during a season when we're celebrating the Lord and Savior that you know delivered us from sins like thievery,"

Christmas decoration thefts are happening all over Tulsa County. Some of the inflatables cost up to $100 to replace.

Skiatook's Mayor even had an inflatable Santa and 'Mr. Snowman' ornaments swiped from his lawn.

"I heard several people got hit. If it's a prank, it's not funny," Skiatook's Deana Crumm said.

Crumm said her home also was hit overnight. Thieves took several inflatable ornaments from her lawn.

“My husband works hard, and we buy stuff and [my daughter] enjoys looking at it,” she said. “Kind of more than anything it kind of scared her a little bit to know that somebody came in and violated us."

Deana isn't sure if she will replace the ornaments.

“I don't know,” she said. “I don't know if it's worth putting out anymore. You know don't want them to come back, so don't want to entice them to come back."
