Police Say Dance Inside Tulsa Sports Bar May Have Led To Man's Death
TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Police have released the name of the man shot to death outside Obsession's Sports bar this week. Antaun Turner, 37, was killed around 2 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at 3205 North Peoria.
Homicide Detective Dave Walker said police believe the murder is gang related, and they are searching for up to four suspects.
Those men have been identified as John Waldon, Leroy Coleman, Willie Stanley and Diamond Reed. Walker released photos of the four men Saturday afternoon.
"Mr. Turner is not necessarily a gang member; however, he was intoxicated and loud and did a dance inside the bar that offended some people," Walker said in a news release.
"Mr. Turner was escorted outside, and as he was leaving, gunshots erupted."
Although police initially believed the shooting may have stemmed from a bar fight involving several women, investigators have learned that was not the case. That fight was apparently a coincidence, Walker said, but police would still like to talk to the women involved.
"Evidence indicates that there are as many as four shooters, and three vehicles involved in this shooting," Walker said. Some of the suspects were left stranded in the parking lot when others drove off, he said.
"Three suspects were left when the shooting occurred, and two of these suspects attempted to steal a car in the car wash parking lot. This attempt failed when they ran into a light pole on the car wash parking lot," he said.
Walker reminds the public that helping someone suspected of murder can land you in jail.
If you have information on the suspects or the murder, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477.
A search of court records shows that Turner has previous arrests including a recent one for domestic assault and battery and resisting an officer. That case was still pending at the time of his death.
