TPD: Body Of Silver Alert Subject Found In Car In Mingo Creek
TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa police confirmed the body found in a car in Mingo Creek Wednesday afternoon belongs to a man who was the subject of a silver alert.
Police said they responded to a car in water call around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday near 10300 East Pine Street.
When they arrived, they said a white, four-door car was partially submerged in Mingo Creek. During the investigation emergency crews discovered a body later identified as 69-year-old Coy Looper who was reported missing Monday.
Police said it appears the vehicle had turned around at the end of a service road then rolled down the hill and submerged into high water.
Reports say Looper was last seen Monday afternoon at the Tulsa International Airport.
Officer said Looper was a passenger in a white 1997 Dodge Intrepid parked in the "shuttle only lane." They said he was waiting for his wife who had gone inside the airport to pickup a relative.
According to reports, when officers asked Looper to move the vehicle he told them he couldn't drive. He suffered from dementia.
Police said they located Looper's wife and when they went back outside the car was gone.
