Chase With Stolen Pickup Ends With Crash In Broken Arrow
BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma - Police said some family friends of the victim spotted the stolen truck, followed it, and call 911. They said it was pretty exciting to follow the suspected thieves and help police make the arrest.
Police said someone stole a white Ford F-150 from the owner's driveway last Wednesday near 88th and South Harvard.
Two family friends just happened to be in the right place at the right time and spotted it.
"He made a few turns and we were on the phone with the cops and then the cops finally caught up and then we didn't know where he was after that," said one witness.
A witness said the person driving the truck hopped a curb near 73rd and Yale, skidded through grass, and hit three vehicles.
Police threw out stop strips but the driver still didn't stop.
The strip blew out the front tires and the driver eventually lost control and crashed outside a Broken Arrow neighborhood near W. Houston Street and S. Laurel Avenue.
"I was just along for the ride. It was a joyride for me. I mean just getting to see everything that happened and went down. Talking to police the whole way down giving them directions. It was just an absolute thrill to be a part of it. I mean you know it is something that makes your day. Putting someone in jail that needs to be," said Caleb Peters.
Police arrested Weston Hill, Justin Hamill, Hayley Spry on a variety of charges.
The friends said they're just glad they spotted the truck when they did.
"They kept looking for it and we kept saying we were going to find it and the time has come," one of the friends said.
Officers said the suspects threw out a gun and drugs during the chase and officers also recovered stolen items inside the truck.
