NORMAN, Oklahoma – OU softball can't seem to put together a complete game right now.
But only because the Sooners keep getting the job done before the seventh inning.
Oklahoma picked up its second straight run rule victory with another 8-0 win against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday.
The Sooners also won 8-0 against Kansas on Friday night.
OU coach Patty Gasso said all of her players are working on the same page right now.
"They are battling in their at-bats and almost anyone down our lineup can hit it hard and change the game," she said. "We did a good job at fighting the count in our at bats and to do that against a team like Kansas shows that we are sharper than we were a week ago at Baylor."
Michelle Gascoigne moved to 12-0 on the year with the complete game shutout, giving up just two hits on the night.
Her effort helped the Sooners continue an impressive trend: they haven't given up an earned run in Big 12 play so far.
Lauren Chamberlain kept her momentum going with another home run, this one coming in the bottom of the third to go up 2-0.
After a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings, the Sooners poured it on in the sixth. Once again, Chamberlain sent one over the wall, this time a solo shot to make it 5-0. OU drove in three more runs to seal the deal an inning early.
The Sooners and Jayhawks will hit the field Sunday at noon for the series finale in Norman.
