Tulsa Police: Man Carjacked, Lured With Smartphone App

Tulsa Police are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking at the Evergreen Apartments near 25th Street and Memorial.

Police say the victim was shaken up after the thieves dropped him off in front of the Evergreen Apartments.

The victim told police he planned on meeting up with someone he matched with on a smartphone app.

When he showed up where they agreed to meet, officers say a man and a woman threatened him with a pistol and knife and forced him into the passenger seat of the Toyota Camry he was driving.

Police say the thieves drove the victim around for a while, then they dropped him off here at the Evergreen Apartments and took off with the car he was driving.

Corporal Craig Johnson with TPD says there's been a trend lately when it comes to criminals using smartphone apps to pull off crimes.

The victim was not seriously hurt, but police say he was checked out as a precaution.
