Tulsa Police say a man is in hospital after he was shot at an apartment complex near 61st Street and Peoria.

Police: Tulsa Man Sent To Hospital After Shooting

Officers say they're looking for a person of interest after a man was shot at an apartment complex near 61st and Peoria.

Police say two apartment complexes are involved in the investigation.

Officers say someone shot the victim in the chest at Waterstone Apartments. The victim then walked down the street to Saint Thomas Square Apartments and that's where police found him lying in the parking lot.

He was taken to the hospital and police say he had surgery Thursday morning. Officer Jeanne Pierce says officers on scene put a patch on his wound that could've been the difference between life and death.

"It keeps air from getting into the cavity, which typically helps with sucking chest wounds, lung injuries," said Peirce. "That halo seal could've saved his life. Had they not done that, there's a possibility that he could have died."

Officers say the victim is expected to be ok.
