Republican gubernatorial candidate Kevin Stitt was talking about agriculture at the fair Wednesday.
Several agriculture groups, including the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, are supporting Stitt.
Stitt said protecting farmers is important for the state's economy.
"I'm going to protect our farmers and ranchers from out-of-state animal groups. No one raises food and fiber better than Oklahomans," Stitt said.
The most recent polls show Stitt and Democratic candidate Drew Edmondson are deadlocked.
