Dax Hill, the most highly sought-after recruit, has made a choice to head to the big 10's Michigan Wolverines.
If you thought Booker T. Head Football Coach Brad Calip would have any kind of inside info before Dax Hill committed to Michigan Tuesday night, you'd be wrong.
"We had a ninth-grade game last night, and my phone kinda went, red alert, Dax committed to Michigan, so we found out at a ninth-grade game," said Calip.
In fact, only those closest to Dax knew he'd made his decision weeks earlier, after an official visit to Ann Arbor.
"I knew right before I was going to the official visit, I knew if the visit went well, I already knew that would be the place," said Hill.
"I'm proud of him and his parents, I think they made the right decision," Calip said.
Michigan came as a bit of a surprise. Alabama was a favorite, and with brother Justice at OSU, several figured Stillwater could be a likely destination. But Dax said Justice helped but didn't push.
"He kind of let me be, but whenever I needed help or just encouragement, I talked to him, so whenever I needed it, he was always there," Hill said.
So now that one of the hottest recruiting battles in all of college football is over, what’s next? For Dax and the Hornets, the plan is a state championship.
"Keep improving every week, and just try to win another state championship," Hill said.
"I think this is really going to elevate his game, where he don't have the pressure anymore," Calip said.
