Holland Hall and Metro Christian is a growing rivalry in 2A. They met again Friday night in a final tuneup before district play starts next week.
It's our Wade's RV Game of the Week
A good measuring stick game for both the Dutch and the Patriots before they head to district play Metro with a good offense and back in 2A with Holland Hall needed a stout defensive effort to stick around.
Both staffs were looking to see how they stack up against good competition between two schools located just 5 miles apart.
Metro measured up really well on the 1st play of the game. Ryan Johnson ran for over 300 yards last week and he got 80 on the 1st play 7-0 Metro.
Holland Hall had a response though with Drake Roush as he lobbed it up to Jake Jackson and it's 14-7.
But Metro came right back in the 2nd and found Aidan Currivean and that extended the lead back to 2 touchdowns.
Metro pulls away though Asher Link already had 1 TD run and in the 4th he'll make it another straight up the middle.
Final score 37-14 Patriots
"You know we had some mistakes, I think we had some opportunities earlier to kind of put them away. Holland Hall is a great team, but our kids out executed them tonight and we played great. Asher made some key runs late to get us first downs and obviously put the game away on the touchdown, but the defense played great," said Metro Head Coach Jared McCoy.
At 3-0 the Patriots have announced themselves as a true contender in 2-A.
