An innocent driver was sent to the hospital after a driver running from police crashed into them.
According to Tulsa Police, just after midnight on Thursday, September 13, 2018, an officer saw a car driving recklessly near Pine and Harvard and pulled it over.
When the officer approached the suspect vehicle, it drove away, starting a chase.
Police said the TPD helicopter was close and took over the pursuit. Sergeant Darin Ehrenrich said the police cars stopped their pursuit and let the helicopter take over.
Ehrenrich said the suspect vehicle crashed into another car at Virgin and Atlanta, flipping it over.
The innocent driver had to be freed from the car by the Tulsa Fire Department and was transported to the hospital. Ehrenrich said the driver is expected to be okay.
“When you look at this collision it looks traumatic – one vehicle is completely flipped over with one side of the vehicle concaved in, but, luckily, it’s on the passenger side. And that driver did sustain some injuries, but she should be okay,” the sergeant said.
Police said the driver of the suspect vehicle suffered a broken leg and was also taken to the hospital.
Ehrenrich said officers found evidence of drug distribution in the suspect vehicle.
The name of the driver in the suspect vehicle has not been released.
