Tulsa police are looking for a man who they say tried to take someone's car, then shot the driver when he didn't give it to him.

Police said they're trying to determine if there's surveillance video showing both the victim and the shooter in one of the parking lots at the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences.

Officers said a man came up to the driver, pulled out a gun, and told him to give up the keys.

That's when the driver took off, but the man started shooting at the vehicle and hit the driver in the shoulder.

The victim told police he thought he'd been hit by an airsoft gun at first but later realized it was a real bullet.

Police said the victim drove to the downtown bus station and got help before going to the hospital.

In a situation like this, Sergeant Shane Tuell said the best way to stay safe is by doing what the bad guy says.

"Your property is not worth your life. You can replace anything so if someone does come up to you, just give it to them," Tuell said.

Police said the victim is expected to be okay.
