A woman and child were involved in a serious wreck on Highway 75 near 161st Street South in Glenpool Wednesday morning. The woman was driving a small, silver sedan that ran into the back of a semi truck around 8:30 a.m., according to Glenpool Police.
Chief of Police Dennis Waller said the semi had pulled out of the Champagne Metals parking lot at 158th Street South. The truck was well onto the highway, so investigators weren't sure why the woman wasn't able to avoid the collision. There were no signs of braking, the chief said.
The infant was in a child seat and just had a couple of abrasions, according to police. Waller said the woman appeared to be seriously hurt but was able to respond to Glenpool firefighters who extracted her from the vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Police don't believe she was wearing a seat belt.
