Oklahoma's Better Business Bureau reminds victims from this week's storms to be on the lookout for scammers.
The BBB says must you must do your homework before hiring anyone to clean up debris or make repairs.
“We obviously recommend BBB.org because you can go through there and make sure that their licensing is up to date. If they’re a roofer, they’re up to date with the construction industry’s board. You can see if they’ve had any problems. Like if any complaints come in and how they responded to those complaints,” said Sean Rose, Director of Public Relations for the Oklahoma Better Business Bureau.
According to the BBB, some red flags to watch for include a lack of uniform, no logo on the vehicle, or high-pressure sales tactics. If they ask for money up front they are likely trying to scam you. BBB says when in doubt call your insurance agent.
