Tulsa’s Woody Guthrie Center is in the middle of its 5th anniversary celebration.
There’s lots going on, including a concert by five-time Grammy winner Marty Stuart at Cain’s Ballroom on Tuesday night.
A lot is happening at the Center itself, too.
“We’ve got things Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Free music at the Guthrie Green, events in our park, it’s a party,” said Deana McCloud.
The Center is a tribute to Oklahoman Woody Guthrie, his music, the time in which he lived, and his influence.
There’s also a virtual reality exhibit on the Dust Bowl and the worst of the dust storms, Black Sunday in April of 1935.
There is even an exhibit with items from Marty Stuart.
The exhibits also include items such as boots that belonged to Roy Rogers, one of Johnny Cash’s guitars, hand-written lyrics of Folsom Prison Blues, and Cash’s address book.
There’s lots more from Stuart’s musical journey, which relates to the Woody Guthrie odyssey, as well.
You can find more information about the anniversary celebration and events on the Woody Guthrie Center's website.
