Police search for a gunman after they say a man died following a shooting in a north Tulsa neighborhood early Thursday. He's been identified as Jaleel Mixon, 22.
Just after 1 a.m., police were sent to the 300 block of West 50th Street North for a shots fired call.
At about the same time, Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies found Mixon outside a home around the block in the 5000 block of North Osage Drive. He was able to speak to officers before being taken to St. Francis Hospital where he died at 2:21 a.m.
They say this is Tulsa's first homicide of 2018.
Officers recovered a gun and found shell casings and a small amount of cocaine on West 50th Street North. Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said that is the apparent scene of the shooting.
"We have not located any eyewitnesses, only people that heard the shooting," Walker said in a news release.
"No one observed a car fleeing the scene and no one heard any altercation prior to the shooting."
Police said Mixon left a house in east Tulsa around 11 p.m. with an unknown person. They're asking anyone who knows where Mixon was between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
