McAlester city officials say a major leak has left the Pittsburg County community without water Friday morning.
The city posted on its Facebook page, workers had been searching for the leak since 2 a.m. and located it at around 8 a.m.
The post goes on to say they are currently assessing the situation and have no word on when water service will be restored.
Because of the water situation, McAlester Public Schools said students will be able to go home if parents wanted to check them out. They said attendance wouldn't be counted against them.
Buses will rain at their normal time.
The school said they have little to no water and that Porta Potties are being delivered to each school site.
