Handcuffed Burglary Suspect Steals Tulsa Police Car

Police are searching for a burglary suspect they say stole a Tulsa Police car and escaped.

Officer Jeff Downs said officers recognized two burglary suspects Monday afternoon and attempted to make contact.

Downs said one suspect taken into custody was handcuffed and put in the passenger side of a police car.

He said during the investigation, that suspect jumped into the driver seat, while handcuffed, and drove away in the vehicle.

After a short chase, Downs said the suspect ditched the car and ran.

Police tracked the suspect to a nearby area and Downs said concerned citizens pointed out a house they believed the suspect to be at.

The suspect wasn’t located and police are continuing their search.
