Eufaula Police are investigating after they say an intruder was killed by a 74-year-old resident.
Right now, police said they are looking at it as a possible justifiable homicide.
Eufaula Police Chief Don Murry said around 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017, officers received a 911 call from a home in the 300 block of South 7th Street.
Murry said a 74-year-old man was watching television when someone he knew kicked in his door and assaulted him.
The assault continued into the kitchen, where police said the resident was able to get a large knife, swung at the intruder and cut his femoral artery on the left leg.
Murry said the burglar, identified as 31-year-old Fines Sturgeon, died.
Eufaula Police requested help from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to collect evidence.
They are investigating but said they are looking at it as a possible justifiable homicide.
Police said the resident refused medical treatment.
No motive has been given, but police said Sturgeon knew the resident.
