Jim Adams of Kellyville tells us he rescued an owl tangled in his fence recently. The great horned owl got caught in a barb wire fence.
Adams said the owl flew straight into the fence and was tangled up on a single barb. He managed to free the bird and take it to the Tulsa Zoo for rehab. The bird was exhausted from struggling but appeared to have only lost some feathers, Adams said.
He didn't think its wing was broken.
Unfortunately, the Tulsa Zoo said the bird had to be humanely euthanized. News On 6 was told with the extent of the injury and infection, their vets put the owl down.
