A shooter is on the loose after a shooting at an apartment complex near Apache and Peoria.

A woman is in critical condition and police don’t expect her to live.

It happened between two buildings at the Towne Square Apartments in the 1600 block of East Young Place.

Detectives said it stemmed from an altercation between a group of women.

Officers said they heard seven gunshots coming from the apartments and started looking around the complex until they found a 37-year-old woman shot in the head along a walkway.

Police said the woman went to the hospital in critical condition.

Detectives took several witnesses in for questioning and said it was hard to know where to start looking for the shooter because they heard so many different stories and names.

Police Sergeant Dave Walker said investigators learned there was an earlier disturbance at the complex between two women and one was stabbed. He said that woman is not being cooperative with their investigation.

Police described the scene as "chaotic" when they got there.

"They called for additional officers. We had a very large and aggressive crowd when we first arrived," Captain Eric Nelson said.

Detectives are still investigating, so if you know anything call police.

Walker said if the shooting victim dies, she will be Tulsa's 50th homicide of 2017.
