The man who police say shot and killed a 15-year-old teen who had robbed his dad's fireworks stand appeared in court for the first time Friday morning.
Johnny Mize II pleaded not guilty to first-degree manslaughter charges in the death of Jake Ulrich on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Police say Johnny Mize II shot Jake after he and his cousin Jack Ulrich stole $600 worth of fireworks from the stand Mize's dad owns.
The assistant district attorney says Jack Ulrich admits to stealing the fireworks, but that only counts for a misdemeanor.

We also learned Jake Ulrich's mom, Jacklyn, is in the Washington County jail facing a failure to appear charge not related to the shooting death of her son.
Ramona Police say Jacklyn was involved in the kidnapping and torture of two men during an attempted drug deal in Washington County in 2014.
