Deputies arrested a Tulsa County detention officer late Friday for allegedly smuggling drugs and other contraband into the jail.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says Kevin Mayo, 20, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. and immediately placed on administrative leave without pay.  They said Mayo has been employed with the sheriff's office since March 1, 2017

In his arrest report, deputies state a search of Mayo's backpack turned up what appeared to be marijuana, pills and what tested to be meth.  It goes on to say several cell phone chargers, lighters, cell phone batteries and a cell phone were recovered from Mayo.

When questioned, Mayo told deputies he had met with a person associated with a jail inmate who gave him a cell phone and he was to give it to that jail inmate.

The report says Mayo admitted doing the same thing several weeks prior to Friday's arrest.

Mayo was booked on complaints including possession of contraband in a jail, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule II drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jail records show Mayo has a court appearance set for June 16th.
