Tulsa Police say a citizen helped them arrest a suspected car thief Thursday morning, June 1. The suspect has been identified as Deandre Marsalis.

Police say they got a call of a car crashing through the fence at Coast to Coast auto sales at 8102 East 11th Street around 6:25 a.m. They found the business had been broken into and keys to the cars were scattered throughout the lot.

While they were investigating that, they got a call about a man driving erratically. A citizen talked to the driver who said he had a gun then ran off, records show.

Police responded to that scene, and the citizen pointed out the man walking down the middle of the street. Officers said Marsalis put both hands in his pockets and started throwing keys that turned out to be stolen from the car lot.

Police said Marsalis told them the other four or five stolen cars are at 17th and South Memorial. Those cars were recovered.

Marsalis was booked for five counts of auto theft and second-degree burglary.
